I thought about making a tutu out of metal. To me tutu's represent art and performing art. I've always been involved with theses things, whether it was dance, marching band, or jewelry making. I thought I might put little charms though out the tutu like my instrument I play and other things from my experience with art.

I like that you actually put some thought into the meaning behind your piece, as apposed to just a design. I think adding the memorabilia will definitely add to the impact of the sculpture.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great idea. It would be cool to add some of that fabric on there that is usually found on tutus, just to add more layers but definately use more metal. The charms would add a very nice touch to it as well and I think that adding a lot of things to it from your experiences would take it to a new level and tell a lot about yourself. Very unique idea.
ReplyDeleteI think this could turn out to be a very beautiful piece. From your sketch the wire looks to be very tangled, I like the idea of it being chaotic, but beautiful and delicate. If you did make the wire tangled and messy, and put charms and things in the wire I think all the little extras would be like little surprises. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteHave you thought about how you are going to construct this? You could probably use some sort of fabric or netting and have the wire be the boning. Is the wrapping around the waist also wire?
ReplyDeleteFirst off your sketch is really well drawn out and I think your tutu will be a good turn out with the extra touch of charms and like someone else mentioned, maybe using some type of fabric that is colored but kind of see thru or maybe just weave some fabric in it to give it a lil of that affect
ReplyDeleteI think that you could crumple up some tissue paper and place it between the layers of wire to give the illusion of tulle. It could also be used make the objects of importance stand out from all of the wire.
ReplyDeleteI love your design and the meaning behind it; it sounds like a very personal project. I think you need to think about a base though on which you start the tutu. Maybe fabric would work or even something thicker would work well and make it a little sturdier.
